I'd have to say... not so much.
One of our local lunch places, which does fantastic salads, sides of steamed veg and plain, broiled chicken breast, offers a 'side of sweet potato fries' as an option...
Yes- they're the same tuber that we athletes eat (or yam, depending on where in the world you live) BUT- add the 'deep frying' in an oil that is likely inflammatory causing canola, or worse, and you pretty much take the Paleo right out of the meal.
Pass- ask for extra veggies or if you're trying to fuel for an upcoming endurance w/o- ask if they'll give you a BAKED sweet potato in their proxy!
To make it even worse, most of the sweet potato fries at restaurants have a coating on them, and sometimes that coating contains gluten. Sweet potatoes just don't get as crispy as white, so they have to help them along. For that reason, I'd actually choose "normal" white french fries over the sweet potato ones in a restaurant... not that I can imagine a scenario where I'd be FORCED to eat either of those. =]

So Canola Oil is officially out? I haven't seen an update from Dr. C on this; last I read, he was cool with it.
I haven't been eating it, anyways. It doesn't have the great flavor that olive, walnut, or flaxseed oil have.

I haven't been to a restaurant in England that even sells sweet potato fries (somebody tell me there is one, or two...) I make my own and coat them in jerk seasoning before putting them in the oven. So yummy, sometimes we dip 'em in sour cream if we are feeling the (spl)urge.

Try coconut cream instead and keep it Paleo!
Or, avocado!
