I believe the fruit is called a cashew apple (which you can eat), but we get cashew nuts from it (the green part).

Wow! I was going to guess some kind of pepper! I can't believe it's a cashew! Would that technically make cashews a fruit instead of a nut?

I guessed a pepper as well.
To your point about a cashew being a fruit vs. nut- I had never heard of that until the other reader, Cherie, commented that she thought the picture was a type of fruit.
As far as Im aware, a cashew is, in fact a nut (on the flip side, however, just a quick reminder to all that peanuts are NOT NUTS! Theyre legumes! )
